Her art teacher gently invites her to make a mark and see where it takes her. One little dot marks the beginning of Vashti’s journey of self-discovery. The story inspires the creative spirit in all of us. SIGHT WORDS: teacher, found, eating, kicked, played Students should study how to spell these words in preparation for FRIDAY’S test. SPELLING PATTERN: words with the endings -ing and -ed
GRAMMAR: Exclamations — A sentence that shows a strong feeling is called an exclamation. An exclamation begins with a capital letter and ends with an exclamation point. TAKE HOME READING FOLDER: Read the leveled book until you are able to read it as smoothly as you speak. Then, answer the Target Skill question at the top of page 11. This week’s target skill is compare and contrast. Students will draw a venn diagram. Differences are written in each individual circle. Similarities are written where the circles intersect. MATH This week we are reviewing and reinforcing place value. Place value is an essential concept to master before we move forward to 2-digit addition and subtraction after the break. Practice expanding numbers in terms of hundreds, tens, and ones. SCIENCE Unit 6 Earth’s Resources — Water is an essential natural resource. We will look at where on Earth we find water and the many ways that we use water. Consider conserving water at home by turning off the faucet while you brush your teeth and taking a quick shower instead of a bath. Keep in Touch!
